Our mink control services
include the removal and
control of problem mink from wherever they are causing problems. Here
at NNWC, we receive calls every year regarding something killing small
animals or poultry at our customers' homes. Sometimes it
turns out to be wild mink as opposed to weasels.
Mink
will enter fishponds, chicken coops, pheasant and quail pens and other
areas where animals are kept. Our mink control programs consist of
non-lethal and lethal control with trapping, habitat
modifications, exclusion and more.
Mink (Mustela vison) The
mink is a member of the weasel family. Mink have a long thin body
and neck, and a small head with rounded ears. Short legs with
webbed feet make it a powerful swimmer. Adult male mink weigh 2 to
3.5 pounds and are commonly 23 to 28 inches long. Females are
smaller weighing 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measuring 18 to 23 inches
long. Mink range
from rich chestnut brown to black, with white spots located under
its neck. The soft fur of the mink has long glossy guard hairs with
thick oily underfur. The
mink is strictly carnivorous. Because of its semi-aquatic habits,
it obtains the same amount of food on land as it does in the
water. The mink feeds on mice, rats, chipmunks, frogs, fish,
crayfish, muskrats, pheasant, quail, rabbits, insects, birds and bird
eggs. Mink are
protected under trapping laws with an established trapping
season. Here at NNWC, we have all of the proper permits to control
mink throughout the year, so if you have a mink problem we are here for
you anytime. For professional mink
